u are taking piano lessons. the cost of the first lesson is one and a half times the cost of each additional lesson. u spend $260 for six lessons. how much did the first lesson cost?

$60.00 for the 1st lesson

1.5 L + 5L =260
6.5 L = 260
L = 40

1st L is 1.5 L so 1.5 x 40 = 60

1.5x + 5x = $260 where x is the cost of lessons 2 through 6

=> 6.5x = $260
=> x = $40

so first lesson costs 1.5*40 = $60
