1. Make sure you understand the refund policy at turtlesale.com so if you need to use it, you can do it in time and do it right.

2. Check out the cares for a Snapper at http://www.chelydra.org and make sure it is being cared for correctly.

Have you tried mixing commercialised food with the fish or seafood that he likes? Maybe a little at a time would do it. I once had a snapping turtle that I bought from a pet shop, and he would eat the pellets and flakes intended for the goldfish! But I agree that you should take him to the vet.

I have raised several common snapping turtles.
The main foods I give them are earthworms, insects, and fish.
They WILL eat dry pellets, but only if they recognize it as food.
I find that once the turtle has a strong feeding response (meaning, they associate me with food) they will eat the pellets. They will also eat dry cat or dog food, but these are relatively fatty and should not be used often.

Snappers are flesh eaters. They will not take to commercialized foods. They need fish/chicken etc & plenty of water to eat it in. They won't eat on dry land, they must be in the water. Skip the bugs (crickets/grasshoppers) as they aren't a food item the turtle will eat & supply almost no nutrition to the turtle anyways.

Since it is a baby I would try feeding him a little raw ground beef. Snappers do prefer meat rather than fish but they DO eat fish. It concerns me that you received him in an upside down position. Thats not good. Snappers are different than other common turtles. They tend to like one or two things and thats about it. I hope he continues to thrive and grow.
