it quite is vector addition. because of the fact the junction of North and West form a great attitude, you need to use the Pythagorean Theorem to get the gap (length of the hypotenuse) and the Tangent function to get the attitude. 30^2 + 40^2 = h^2 tan ? = 30/40 (or 40/30 reckoning on which facet you utilize as your first vector.)
