Good money, good benefits, but remember, you could go to war. However they do pay for college, and I think after 4 years you could get out and use that money to pay for an education.

that's a personal call that you're going to ahve to make...i am a fan of people that want to serve their country. however if you're doing it for the money or benefits, you might be surprised that you will make much more in the private sector. they do give you some assistance with college after your service time. it's basically too late for the 20,000 sign on bonus you've been eharding about because in order to get that you had to ship off to basic training by late september....the 20,000 offer is not on the table for people that join in october becasue it's past 4th quarter...

i LOVE the military, even though i am not in the military. but you must consider that an assistant manager at mcdonalds makes more money than a private in the military...

Should you join the Army for the money and benifits? Heck no...If you join, join because you want to be part of something bigger than yourself. Join because you want to do your part to protect the freedoms that American citizens enjoy. Join because you want to better yourself, Join because you want to help stop tyrants and fanatics throughout the world, but don't join for money. If that is your motivation, then you won't make it. This is 16 years of active duty experience talking.

You will have the risk or being disabled or killed. Why not the Air Force? The Air Force has better bases, better locations and is a little safer than the Army or Marines.

Everyone should have to serve their country (bring back the draft with no exemptions and allow civilian service say I). It is nice to get paid for it.

If you do it, do it for the right reasons and recognize that you give up freedom of movement, freedom of speech, free time and have to follow orders you may not like. But millions of men have survived the ordeal and for many it has been one of life's great experiences.
