In the good old days of Melody Maker, they were always advertising gigs in little out of the way places. The name comes from when they were messing around with names like Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and came up with Four Poxmen Of The Horslips.

Yeah heard of them
Think they were classified as "celtic rock"
Their backing track was used on an Ireland world cup song for Italia '90

yep i've seen them too. personally not my kind of music more of an indie rock fan than celtic rock though their oldest stuff is the best i think they went a bit mellow in their older age!!
