there was this girl whose parents named her tiny and she grew up tiny, then people started to call her a different name, and they said she grew quite taller....i dont know how true that is...

oops you said behave...hmm...so far i havent really met anyone whose name matches up with his character...if it does, its more likely coincidence...

im lost...i thought you said ppls names...yes, genes do affect your behavior to a certaint extent...i read that ppl's temperament are fixed..so if you were calm and quiet, most likely you are the same years from now unless some major event happens

Based on a report in Time (Nature vs Nurture), I have to point out that some of our behaviours actually coz by our genes while some others taken/created from our sorrounding elements like what ur parents teach u, what ur friends told u to do, what's ur teacher's opinion etc. However, some of the behaviour from ur genes can be changed through time (the more u experience the ups and downs in life, the more u will change ur behaviours). Naturally, it is difficult to point out the behaviour that caused by genes or not. So, just behave urselves and changed urselves to be a better person. Don't blame ur parents if ur behaviour are unacceptable in ur society because u can change it.

Of course your genes have an influence on the way that you behave. They have done studies on sisters and brother's who weren't raised together and found out that very often they have a lot of the same characteristics than they thought that they would. You find out that even though they weren't brought up together they share some of the same mannerisms and the same likes and dislikes. Children who were placed for adoption find out when they met their parents where that particular hand gesture that they done all of their life came from. When they see their biological parent make the same gesture. Some of our behavioral characteristics come from the way that we were raised and watching our family but a lot of it comes from our genes.

The basic concept is the a person's genetic makeup predisposes them to have traits or a style of reacting to environmental events, but just like we are born with reflexes that we shape into specific motor actions and becoming better at through training, how we actually behave to specific environmental events as we mature develops through learning and the feedback that we receive from our actions. So, just because someone is born with a genetic makeup that predisposes them to depression does not mean they will be depressed, they could become happy because they develop a set of behaviors that support cheerfulness. You get out of life what you put into it, as they say. If you just react to things and let environmental events interact with your genetics and don't put anything into it to change it, then you let circumstance create you, but you could also be constructive and influence who you become.
The basic formula I learned in school was 25% of one's life was determined by genetics, 25% from environmental circumstances, which left 50% to other influences.

Definitely, it is in your genes and the way you were raised. It has an immaculate influence on the way you act.

Human behavior is driven by a complex interplay of both nature (i.e., genetics) AND nurture (e.g., environmental factors).
