Honda Motor Company is recalling more than 180 000 Civics from the 2006/2007 model year. It's to fix a wheel-bearing seal which could leak and lead to a wheel falling off the car. Owners are being notified of the recall this month, or you can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.

I just called my dealer here, and it's an issues with the seal around the speed sensor that affects 5% of 2007 Honda Civics in Canada. The seal can allow moisture to get in and start rusting the wheel bearing prematurely. If this happens, you will start to hear the normal "bad wheel bearing" grind when you drive; your wheel will NOT fall off unless you continue to drive with the "bad wheel bearing" noise for a very extended period (same as with a "normal" bad wheel bearing...) without getting it repaired. Affected vehicle owners will be contacted by letter from Honda Canada--wait for the letter UNLESS you start hearing the "bad wheel bearing" noise first.
