I don't think it is illegal... If so, half of ITV are currently outside the law! It's more concerning all the legal mumbo jumbo they have to read out, and clearly determine the cut off point for entries..
Angus can barely be bothered to read 'em out they're so glaringly obvious! Oh well, at a pound a pop they've gotta try and earn some money to pay for all that worcester sauce!

There was some talk a while ago about making phone in questions more difficult, the reason being that most of the questions were so easy that the competitions were in effect games of chance (like buying a raffle ticket) rather than games of skill (which need a modicum of ability). Potentially the phone in comps. are breaking some law that I don't pretend to understand.

I didn't know they were illegal, but Iam sure companies are using them to make as much money as possible as they know the easier the question, the more people that ring up,the more money they make.So many shows use this method, and then have problems counting the number of votes entered...so I don't even bother phoning in anymore,GMTV,Brainteaser and even Deal Or No Deal.

Easy questions are illegal now? weird! never heard that before.
Easy questions are shitty anyway, they almost make me NOT want to bother phoning an answer in as everyone would know it (not that I ever do phone in thingies) >.>
I was wondering about the HK thing myself hah

It's not the easy questions that are illegal - it's the bit about phoning after the competition closes - they MUST now tell us that we'll still be charged if we're stupid enough to enter.
Sorry - that should read "stupid enough to enter after the time limit ......! ! !

I never heard of that! Angus does have good wit after he asks the question "if you have a braincell then call ..." which I find funny.

I knew they were bringing in strict regulations as regards to questions asked in phone in comps but I didn't know that easy ones were illegal - you learn something every day don't you - thanks Mrs. G!!!! As you imply - they don't seem to have changed yet do they?
