Hi -
I've had 2 c-sections. The first one with my daughter, was not planned and they had to knock me out completely. With my son, it was a planned c-section.
We got to the hospital at 6am. They prep me took me to the pre-op and gave me an epidural. Now many people will tell you that it is a huge needle and that it will hurt like heck. Honestly, I don't know how big the needle was because I was 9 months pregnant and couldn't turn around to see. Second, I did not feel a thing. Maybe it was the excitement of finally thing my little guy.
Once in the operating room, things go pretty fast. I was wide awake and was able to hold my son right away. My husband went with the nurse when they took him to clean him and check him etc, while they finished me up.
I was home within 3-days. and within a couple of weeks was pretty much moving around and cooking and doing other small chores around the house.
Personally C-section was the best way to go for me. I was in labor for 36 hours with my first and this was not something I wanted to experience again :-)
Above all remember, to rest, rest, and rest, and yes rest again. So when your little one is asleep, you need to be in bed if not sleeping then... well.. resting...
Congratulations!

I had an emergency c-section with my daughter. I am going to have another one is 6 weeks from now.
The c-section itself feels like a dream for me. I can hardly remember what happened. It went very fast.
I think the hardest thing for me was the first day after. The hardest thing was getting up for the first time. But, once that happens, keep trying to get up. Move around as much as you can, even if it is only a few feet at a time. You will find your recovery that much faster.
Once I got the staples out, I felt sooo much better.
Just make sure you take care of yourself. Make sure you eat foods that are easy to digest the day before. That way your system won't struggle in digesting foods shortly after your surgery. I had problems with gas build up for a few days. It was not that comfortable. To help this out, keep walking as much as you can, it will help get the gas through your system.
Here is a brief for what will happen.

I had a csection 16 and a half years ago under general anaesthetic ( my back had problems prior to becoming pregnant). My daughter was the wrong way around. Many are given with a epidural block ( local anaesthetic). Either way you wont feel any pain during the birth and your child's head will not have to go through the trauma of going through your cervix etc....I was a bit sore from the surgery but the joy of having my daughter was well worth it. All my very best wishes to you !!:)

in case you have a option shouldn't have a C phase, (you do not say why you're having a C phase) I needed to have a C phase for the sake of my little one, he had a situation which ment a normal beginning would motive very severe issues. After approximately three days i learned i had a submit operative illness, and ended up in ICU for a couple of days. I do not remorse the operation due to the fact it stored my son, however 15months later I had my daughter obviously and it used to be first-rate. Unless it is for clinical causes related to you or your youngster attempt to have a normal beginning. As for the soreness, good it wasn't too unhealthy till the illness set in, you'll take a look at with out meds, however be all set to make use of them if you want them

I had a c-section 15 1/2 mo ago. The surgery was ok...... I was awake during the whole thing, the only pain I felt was just the pressure of them taking my son. After I had my son they kept the epidural catheter in my back with a pain relief flowing constantly until about 12 hrs or so after. Once I got up to take my shower they changed my sheets.. I WAS SORE AFTER the pain meds wore off. I was also allowed to keep my son in the room with me as long as I wanted as long as I had some one there to help me with him. I healed pretty quickly from the surgery.

I had an emergency c-section with my duaghter. The actual c-section wasn't as bad as I would have thought. They have it so you can't feel much of anythiing.. maybe a little tugging or pulling but not painful. Afterwards, once the drugs wear off you are going to be sore. One mistake I learned from was not to let your pain reliever wear off. The hospital I was in would not give me any pain reliever medication unless I asked for it, so I had to call and ask for it every 4 hours. Good luck and Congrats!!!

Nothing to worry about at all. Your awake, no pain during operation. After is just sort of uncomfortable cause if you get up your trapsing around with the iv pole to the bathroom, but right away they want you up walking so do it! I was up and down the halls so much they told me to cool it. Any way if you have pain you press a button on a pain killer pump that shoots a drug into the iv so heck thats cool. I'd ask for a sheet change now though cause they're so lazy or cheap (I don't know which but they don't change linnen daily unless you ask) personally after a surgery I want clean sheets I feel better. Then they hide your baby if you don't watch it, so I made it a point to scope him out and spy on them, until they gave him up to me. Honestly a baby just bawls and they act like they don't hear it. Then they put awful clothing on the baby if you don't insist they use yours. But I liked the whole thing cause the baby was mine and he was worth it-----then.

calyx some people can't agree to have a csection, they may absolutely need one for the safety of themselves and for their child. Of course its not a natural birth, neither is a vaginal one with medication.

Please read Silent Knife before you agree to a C-section. You really have no idea what you're actually agreeing to. It's NOT a natural birth. It's not usually good for mom or baby, and it's alot harder heal from as well.
