White Wooden Blinds - How would you clean them?

Question

I have some white wooden blinds, and the slats are getting a bit grubby even though I dust them. They look like the could all do with a little wash. It would take ages to do each slat by hand and wondered, if I should take them down and wash them gently in the bath , with some mild soap ?

What d'ya think? Shall I?

yes do just what you said in the bath use washing up liquid its good for getting of all the dirt

I made the mistake of doing the bath thing but then i ended up with water marks all over the place on the blinds so not much use. You can buy thin white cotton glove and use a real small drop of washing up liquid in a sink/basin of warm water, dip your gloved hands into the water and wipe over the blind.
By using both hands you get the job done in half the time.

I think there's a good chance they'll end warping. Water and wood don't mix well.

The fastest way is buying a pair of cheap cotton sport socks. Put one sock on your hand as a glove and spray palm side with furniture polish, window cleaner or just a smidge of water (you want to get it damp, not wet).

Starting from the top, and using your hand as a pincer, work your way on each slate from one side to the other, always on the same direction. As the sock gets dirty turn it a bit so you get a clean section over your palm again, changing to the other sock of the pair when there's no more clean area.

Once you finish pop the sock in the washing machine and they'll be ready for next time.

i took mine down and washed them with a sponge and soapy water on the floor in the front room (not too much water though)

then i dried each one so they only stayed damp for a minute.

i think since they are fairly thin, they are prone to warping, so don't get them soaked.

i find cleaning wipes the best ,did the bath thing and still needed to wipe after the dust just stayed on the bloomin things
