they might be crawling up the drains, close them when not in use that might help.

It's a myth that spider come up the drains. Drains have a U-bend, and spider cant swim, so it's impossible. What does happen though is that they climb into the bath and then can't get up the smooth sides.
I think you must have just had a nest hatch nearby. If they're all pretty much the same size then it's a certainty. The nest can big pretty big, but they're harmless anyway, so I wouldn't worry! The smell might be more of an issue though...! Good luck!!

They get found in baths because they fall in and cannot get out again. If you leave a towel over the side of the bath they can escape, but they'll enter other rooms..............

To get rid of them is easy. Cut the bottom off a plastic drink bottle (keep the screw top lid on), and cut the end off a plastic food carton tray. Place the bottle over the spider, slide the tray underneath, turn the whole thing over so that the spider falls into the bottle, and cannot get out. Then release in the garden well away from the house.

When hanging clothing out to dry keep them well away from ground level. If you have alleyways and paths nearby, keep them well swept. Remove old leaves, pieces of wood, and anything else where spiders can hide. Keep windows closed, especially if near trees or bushes.

You could put a small pile of wood in the garden somewhere for spiders to go to.

are you positive some are wolf spiders??
even though both are positively icky...wolf spiders are a tad more fatter then the giant house spider. [i have those. i nearly die whenever they pop up outta no where]

& you need to be absolutely careful if you do find one. creepiness isnt the only thing to be scared about, since they're toxic.

but...as far as i know, house spiders & wolf spiders dont live with others. it's getting colder around...so they like to come inside. also, they may seem to be traveling in packs because the males sometimes look for the females so they can do their thing. i'm not too sure about the bathroom though...i've always wondered that too.

Yes a wolf spider could kill your kitty, so I would pour some bleach down the drain to get rid of it! The venom may kill your kitty, its so-so becuase they don't have A LOT of venom, but they have enough to do damage and sometimes kill small animals. But my other concern is that if your kitten swallows the spider, it could bite her in the process and swell her throat shut :( We use to have a large lizard (can't remember the type, it was when I was a kid) and we would give it insects we found in the house. My brother gave it a wolf spider and he ate it, then he died :( The vet told us that his throat had swollen and thats how he died :( Kill that little gross spider!

It's mating season for many spiders so the males are out & about looking for females. We're about 1,000,000 times larger than they are and they won't bite unless they feel directly threatened (such as getting caught under clothing and squished, or if you try to hold one in a closed hand). So tell your mom not to worry so much, just do a sweep of the bathroom before bathing to chase out any wayward romeos.

I don't know where you live, but if it's beginning to get cool at night where you are, that's why they are coming in now. For a quick, cheap and easy way to discourage them (or any spider) take a potato peeler and peel a bar of soap into strips. Put several pieces of the soap in the toe of old pantyhose or knee highs' and put them in corners, behind cabinets, in the closets... anywhere spiders might like to congregate. The soap drives them away, clean as a whistle! And I can sympathize with your mom... I DESPISE SPIDERS!! My father used to say I was the only person he knew who could HEAR a spider in the room. LOL
