I think Hermione is a cute name. However, consider this:
J.K. Rowling named her brainy character Hermione because it is a very unusual name. Because it is such an unusual name, the general assumption will be that your daughter is named after Harry Potter's brainy friend. Your daughter will be often picked on because of the Harry Potter craze. However, if you like the name, go with your gut. Here's a tip. Go in your back yard and shout the name three times. If you still like it, go with it.
Also, somebody said something about the names Harry and Henry not being associated with Harry Potter as much. This is because Harry and Henry are MUCH more common names. I had never even heard of the name Hermione until the books, much less met a Hermione.
If you decide to stick with the name Hermione, consider these middle names:
Hermione Rose
Hermione Leigh
Hermione Marie
Hermione Kate
Hermione Catherine
Hermione Paige
Hermione Peighton/Payton/Peyton
Hermione Jean (It sounds nice, but I wouldn't recomend this as Jean is Hermione's middle name in the series)
Hermione May/Mae/Rae
Hermione Grace
Hermione Claire
Hermione Nicole
Hermione Quince
These are just some names that I think sound great next to Hermione.
Good luck and God bless!
p.s. I know there are at least 3 real Harry James Potter's out there, so it may not be too bad to have the name Hermione (Jean). It may actually be kind of cool. If you daughter becomes a Potter Fanatic, it would be awesome for her to have the name Hermione =]

It's just fine. ;)
I truly can't understand why people would find this an odd choice simply because it's used in the Harry Potter series. Do they honestly think the name was created only recently, just for the character?! LOL After all, very few would even mention the books/movies to someone considering Henry/Harry, and that would seem the most obviously-connected name, don't you think? ;)
For what it's worth, I would be much more apt to assume the parents were into literature and/or mythology, not that they'd simply taken a name from Harry Potter. ;) But if others' associations would concern you, it's just as lovely in the middle name spot, and not as obvious a reference (you can certainly afford to take a bit more risk with the secondary name, so always a nice spot to place something you love but aren't sure you'd want to use on a daily basis).
Hope that helps!

Yes actually I think it's fine. Especially if you're a HP fan. If you make it middle name she won't get teased.
I would like to name my daughter Lauren Hermione. And my other Kaitlyn Harmonie. Unfortunately they match a little too much for my liking though.

My cats name is Hermione so I like the name. I don't think it would be a great name for a girl though. Mostly because of Hermione Granger from Harry Potter and all. Possibly a middle name though. Only maybe.

Yes, I think it's a fine name. There are no issues giving your child a name from a popular book except imagined ones. It's no different from all the Ethans that appeared within 1 year of the Mission Impossible movie. At least all the teachers will know how to pronounce it!

We actually considered this but like you had too hard a time coming up with a middle name so we gave up and went with something else. It's a nice, unique name so if you like it go for it! Good luck with your decision!

I think it's a good name for a girl but she might get teased seeing as it has been made so well-known by the Harry Potter movies. They might tease her really bad. As a middle name, it might not be so bad........until the kids at school find out.
