Why do quarterbacks throw the ball to the other team?

They dont try to throw the ball to the other team. Coverages get changed, and confuse the QBs. Then some QBs are just bad at throwing the ball. (Rex Grossman!!) Sometimes WRs run the route wrong, fall down, or tip the ball up to the D!!!
