Yes, it's true. Although many Black males may disagree.

Hmmm...I think it comes down to decision-making and personal responsibility. I am unhappy where I live, as holding down three jobs to get forty hours a week in a town that is obscenely wealthy with a huge service industry that shells out hours like rice to people in Thai jails when they 'desperately need staff' and I am qualified for these positions. I've had people snarl at me and tell me to leave when I come in because I 'have the wrong look'. I am white, it is not a racial thing and I dress appropriately. Why put up with this and whine about it? Been poking on the Net and found some hotels with staff accom up in Northern Alberta, (some parts are beautiful with forest, hills and open Prairie plains, it's much warmer than on the open flat shield of the middle and south, good pay, nice people, been there before, located in a large town and not some hamlet), been applying and will call the management on Monday in regards to opportunities. It's a conscious decision--we don't have to do it--we want to get away from here for nine months--pref. from late September to the end of June next year.

If we have a real purpose in life, then we have a responsibility to attempt to accomplish our purpose. A life without purpose is also without meaning and meaning is the same as worth. So I agree with you. Responsibility is tied to worth.

I believe that, you can't be in this world and hide, you have to take a stand somewhere, you can't always follow the crowd, you can't always be in the majority. There are times when you as an individual have to take matters into your own hands, and that will mean taking on responsibilities. I pesonally feel you hit the nail right on the head

Life without responsibilities is an oxymoron. No such life exists. Life is synonymous with responsibility. Thus not only would it be not worth living, it would not be at all.

Yes, it is responsibilities that give life special meaning and challenge us to be better than we are.
To see life without responsibilities, look at Paris Hilton and tell me that her life is productive and useful?

Not necessarily. I had tons of responsibilities for many years. I was fairly happy. Now I have absolutely none and am deliriously happy.
