Actually these are not bad for the money. I bought one for my wife (us version). It does not have works but for University level you can just load OpenOffice http://openoffice.org

It is much more powerful than works in fact it does nearly all that MS Office will do only it doesn't cost you anything period. Just have to download it, it will wordprocess, spread sheet, present, and work data.

Good luck on your Univ.

Add.
The first one you list has twice the Ram, and twice the HD, as well as the CrystalBrite LCD..IF the second one does not have the CrystalBrite (specs don't say so it may not) I might spend the extra but that is just an opinion. If the second one does have the CrystalBrite screen I would save the $$ you can add memory and HD if needed. Either machine will do OK with the DuoCore but the difference in screens is really nice. To bad you aren't in the US, I only paid 599 for the one I got for my wife with 1 gig 160meg and CrystalBrite screen so you may want to check some US stores for comparison many will ship to you.
