Funny question brings back memories. We set a Havahart trap for a pesty raccoon years ago. Guess what we trapped. You're right a skunk. The next day the neighbors all were complaining about the ripe smell last nite. We just agreed with them. The wonderful odor lasted quite awhile.

Skunks are notorious for digging up lawns ,looking for grubs. If your laws about pesticides aren't as strict as where I am, you could spray to get rid of them. My friend had a skunk family living under their little shed in the back yard. She said they used to come out at night in single file with the babies following behind. She heard that skunks don't like the smell of household ammonia ,so they put a large tray of kittylitter soaked in ammonia right in front of the hole where they emerged at night. She said that night they watched them as they gingerly stepped over it but they didn't return in the morning so they covered the hole and they were gone for good. Hopes this helps you J.a

You can buy those sonic devices that emit a high frequency pitch to keep away the skunks; you place them around the perimeter of your property on a little stake. Supposedly this is good for keeping away squirrels as well.

Uumm, I usually feed my husband a pan of beans, we hardly even notice the skunks:~)
ha ha, just kiddin
I hear moth balls will do the trick. Just be careful how much you put under your home, it can become toxic
If your home is on a slab, find out where they are hiding and throw a couple of handfuls in there

Here, it's the Wild animals to worry about, Being a new development, we had Wild Boars tearing up the lawns, until they relocated one pack (family); Sand Hill Cranes come up to the Patio to 'investigate' often, And an occasional Alligator visits populated areas....!!

put out dog food about a quarter mile away. they will go to the feeder.
I am trying this to see if it will work. My ranch hand feeds the dogs outside his back door at the bunkhouse!! I am really tired of "skunked" dogs wanting in.
Call USDA Wildlife Control office

" skunks" do you mean the animals or the people.....if its the animals, put mothballs around your house, they can't stand them, if its the people, just put up posters around the neighbourhood warning of the " crazy old man with a shotgun" at your adress.

Get a pet wolverine. Make great pets and keep other animals away just by their scent. Although, I don't know where you live or whether the laws will allow you to have one.

you can get a "tattletale" on E Bay, which emits a short high piercing sound when disturbed, of a scarecrow sprinkler from a garden center, which gives a 2 second burst of spray when it detects motion.
