Yes. It is something about Western culture and Western thinking that keeps us slaves to these issues. We are obsessed with whys in society rather than hows.
How does the typical person fall in love with anyone? It usually starts with thinking about them and then fantasizing about them. Stop the thoughts and the fantasies and the uncontrolled love doesn't happen.
We all choose who we love through the actions of our thoughts.
That is "how do we make ourselves fall in love with some? By thinking...."

I don't believe we can control who we fall in love with but we can control what we do with it-i.e. not fall into the temptation of the flesh and that can be controlled-walk away, be with others, and on and on and yes I do know how difficult that is but it can be done and especially if we, as children of the living God, call on Him He has promised He will not give us more than we can bear but will provide a way out and God is not a liar.
As to the falling in love-we can do that many times but that is because we fall for the wrong things, looks,money,health,etc. Real love does not have "conditions" a person must live up to in that regard. Love must be, above all, patient.

(To your second wording of this question): Not in my own experiences, and not in those of any of the people I've known for years either. I've read it's some kind of chemical thing--whether or not that's true, I don't know.
(To your original question) it can be controlled by someone who has a lot of will power--outwardly, at least. Inner feelings often remain stagnant.

no i dont belive you can, i dated a lot of guys , and i had a picture of my idea man, but i fell in love with a man that i didnt think i would, and we have been married 25 years and its been wonderful. when you are dating the one who you think you are gonna just mess around with a little can end up being the love of your life.
