Do we expect them to rise above our petty likes & dislikes and nobly govern the country as our pure conscience?

Honesty and integrity, that's what you need in a politician.
If they were honest it would make our job as voters allot easier.....
I'm no asking for the pope here........

Politicians are some of the most disappointing people on the face of the earth. The responsibilities that they carry on their shoulders take a backseat to greed and corruption in far too many instances. It's a frustrating situation which seems to be uncontrollable.

They certainly should uphold, and be respecters of moral values. I expect them to conduct themselves in a professional manner and be an example for our youth.

they should govern according to the constitution, and they should govern in defense of freedom. but they're pretty much doing the opposite and have been doing the opposite for decades now. you would serve yourself best by expecting little to nothing out of your politicians, regardless of what you think that you should be able to expect. they are no smarter than any of us, they're just people. and the sooner the rest of us all realize that, the better.

That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. One can only dream of that occurring but if you ever really expect that to happen then I suggest you see your doctor about upping your meds. lol
