I can't tell you. But I should think that if you use latinate plural endings, you should use latinate pronouniation for the whole word. In your second example, that would involve a hard "g". Why bother?

-ae- sounds like "ee"

check links - if you cliclk on the red 'speaker' by the word, it will let you hear the way the word is pronounced
