theyre all just different names for highspeed internet. (broadband is a general term for high speed internet) dsl comes from your phone company, runs over the phone lines (u can still use the phone & internet simultaneously) cable runs thru a cable and is a shared connection. satellite is thru a satellite dish similar to the ones from dish network. the most expensive, usually chose as a last resort when nothing else is available in ur area. at&t does have some inexpensive dsl packages... theres a dsl basic pkg at 768 kbps (about 13x dial up speed) for $10/mo if you type in this link att.com/internet (online offer only) theres faster packages available too.. the next one up is 1.5 mbps at $19.99/mo and they go up from there. the basic pkg would be a good starting point from getting off dialup, plus easy on the wallet! you can also call 1877uaskatt for more info on the pkgs . if you decide to go with at&t, use referral code mp4341 & good luck!

DSL and cable are both fast broadband services. Satellite is faster than Dailup but slower than Broadband.

Talk to the various local Internet Service Providers for more info.

There are some DSL providers (Verizon is one of them) that sell a 768K DSL for about $15/mo. I'm not an expert, but that seems to be the closest thing to a value. Dial-up is only 56K I believe. One of the downsides is that you have to sign up for a year (there's a penalty if you cancel early.)

It's a tough decision. Consumer Reports might have which ISPs are the best. Their website isn't free, though ($5/mo.)

I don't know a lot about this, but was tied to dial-up for years and would get so frustrated. I bought a satellite dish system as it is the only option when you live in the middle of no where. All the other options are cheaper, but not available in a lot of rural areas. Check you phone book under Internet service providers)
