In particular those who say they're depressed then deny it, threaten suicide, and don't want to go to counselling, etc....

One reason people threaten suicide is to get attention, whether they know it or not. Think about it: if what you really wanted to do was die you'd find a way to do it and just get on with it. These people are usually struggling with something and need some real help. Both groups don't want to go to therapy because having to change yourself is a very scary prospect.

I can understand someone not wanting to go to counseling. I'm fighting depression completely on my own, because the only help that anyone offers to give me is attempting to force me to go to a counseler or doctor.

But they don't seem to understand these things.

1. I absolutely hate doctors/therapists-IMO they're only in it for the money. They don't give a **** about the people that they are "Helping".

2. I don't have the money for that! How can I pay a doctor with the money that I don't have?

When depressed, its easy to overlook all options. It's easy to just say "No, that won't work". It's also easy to think tat you're the only person that feels this way, or that no one understands you/knows how to help you.

.. I think you have to have been depressed to understand this.

You can only help someone if they want the help
