Been my years of experience to not waste my time on repairing a fuel tank. Tried many times in the past to help save my customers a few bucks but it never seems to work out. Fuel tanks are not as expensive as they were in the past compared to the prices of things now anyway. Verify first its the tank leaking and not a sending unit or a fuel line Take my advise. Just fix it right.

You don't. If fuel is leaking, chances are it would degrade anything you could put on it like epoxy glue before it could set.
Here's how my dad fixed it. He emptied the tank and put in dry ice. His theory was the dry ice would put out CO2 and prevent it from exploding. He then soldered it.
But, he did a lot of dumb things that I wouldn't recommend.
You could drain the tank, find an epoxy glue that fuel won't degrade, clean the hole and then put the epoxy in and around the hole. That might work, but again, it might only be a temporary fix.
I would look to a salvage yard for a replacement.

easy, go to the auto parts store. Ask for gas tank sealer. It is a putty that you "knead" like clay to soften and work it out to fit the hole or seam you need to patch. Some works on a wet or leaky tank, other brands you need to make sure the place your patching is dry when you apply it. I've used it to patch motorcycle tanks, and 4x4 tanks out in the desert when I knocked hole sin em on rocks. Obviously DO NOT TRY TO WELD the tank to repair it.
Good luck

the best way to patch a fuel tank is REPLACE IT. none of that crap they sell in parts stores has ever worked for me. plus a replacement tank is approx $140 at advanceautoparts.com.

that sounds dangerous for you and your fellow drivers; having it replaced it the best way and not a patch job.
