Every industrialized coutry in the world has free health care for its citizens.
To hear conservatives talk, you'd think the citizens of Israel, Germany, and Canada would be marching in the street demanding the right to buy a policy from Blue Cross Blue Shield for $500 per month.

Actually, I'm over 65 so I receive free health care under medicare. I'm a veteran too and have used the VA hospital and received good care. I also have relatives in Canada and have never heard a complaint about health services

Haha! That's funny and a good point!
All we ever hear about are the few rich socialists who don't get their medical demands met immediately. Lots of folks wait in the U.S., too!
Anyway, most people appreciate their national health care programs.

What do you mean free? Their healthcare is not free it is just socialized. There is a big difference.
Their health care cost them just like it does in the US only it's paid for by higher taxes.
I am an american who lives in the UK so I have lived under both systems. The Tax you pay in the UK it unbeliveable. Your income is heavily taxed, You have to pay a counsel tax just for living, Property tax, the VAT tax on your purchase is 14.5% for everything you buy. You pay tax on your car when you buy it and every year you own it.. This is what pays for the health care.
Now on top of that the care you get is not like the care you get in the US becuase their funds to pay for the care is limited. When you are admited into the hospital you can expect 8 to 12 people to a room not 2 or a private room like in the states. They put men and women together. I wa admitted for an athsma attack. I had 9 people in the room with me. On guy was in a coma one died while i was there the others suffered from many diffrent things. I couldnt wait to get out of there.
On top of that you have to worry about catching the MSRA virus while in the hospital it is a virus that is in the hospitals from a lack of hygine. They dont have the resouces to hire people to clean enough. They also have a shortage of medical staff and the ones thay do have are very unhappy becuase of the conditions they work under and the pay the recieve. They are constantly threatening a walk out or boycott.
some things about socialized healthcare are good but not all. The grass is not always greener. I know most of my mates refuse to go to the hospital becuase they fear the MSRA. You have long wait lists for treatment. many people have to opt for paying to have stuff done becuase they dont want to wait on the NHS list for the treatment.
By the way the system works like a big HMO. You have to apply to become a patient of a doctor and if he has an opening then you can be his patient. In order to go to a specialist you have to be refered by your doctor.
It took me 1 1/2 years to get on a dentist patient list becuse there is such a shortage of dentist in the UK (the last thing they need a shortage of)
Dont worry in socalized health care you will still be paying the 500.00 permium, you just dont send a check in they get it off you everytime you pay for something, every month when you pay your council tax, your vehichle tax and you dont have the choices you do in the US you have to go where they say you go.
Be careful what you wish for I ended up spending a lot of money paying for health care I wasnt willing to wait for.

As a Canadian we would revolt if Canada would remove it.
Unfortunately our government is just as corrupt and not all the funds are being used properly and money disappears in the system, and in Quebec the language laws are a joke. That is bureaucracies flaws, not the systems...

Many would like to.
Man of the ones from Europe & Canada with money, come here for Good Health Care.
Little Commies think that Nationalized Health Care will be Free.
They aren't smart enough to realize that the Working People will pay for it.
Of course, most of these little Democrats don't work, so they don't care about the Taxpayers.

Anyone that has ever visited a VA Hospital will tell you, the Government has no business at all in the medical field. Think you have to wait too long at the ER now....wait til the Congress has a hand in your medical care.

Medicare is not free since we pay for it through our paycheck deductions, neither will national health care. But at least it will be cheaper than what we are paying now if properly administered & everyone will benefit, not just those that can afford it or that are covred through their employers.

free health care?? no. the people are paying for it through ridiculous tax rates. and if somebody tells you the citizens of those countries don't have any problems with their systems and are completely satisfied with it, they're lying. beyond that, it's socialism, and socialism is the opposite of freedom. if you're one who supports nationalized health care, or who supports socialism, the first thing you need to do is walk out into the middle of the street with a megaphone and shout "freedom sucks....down with freedom". because if you don't, or you profess to like freedom, then you're just being a hypocrite.

good point, but stop calling it free. You still pay for it through taxes, but it's offset by your no longer having premiums to pay. I hope they make sure it only covers legal verifiable US citizens....and any kid that's visiting. I've found while there that people in Europe are happy with their systems.

Those that know what good health care is, come to the US for treatment. That is well known. Why do you want to reduce the quality of our health care to get what you so ignorantly perceive as free?
