What happened to the Democratic Party? It was not always like this? What ever happened to "WW2 era Democrats"?

The Democratic Party has changed. No question about it. And Im sad to say that it has not changed for the better.

-The Democratic Party used to be a morally strong, intelligent, democracy loving, capitalism loving, free market oriented, pro-American party.

-Today the Democratic Party is the party of cut and run. They want to impose socialism on the American people while claiming to be democratic. They do not support our troops, they hate our military, they think we should have a welfare state, and still others.

The Democrats of yesterday are gone. The monsters that have taken their place are not democrats - but they claim to be - they are something else. It has become clear to most Americans at this point that the "nu-Dems" are really not democrats at all.

The nu-Dems are really the "NSPA" the National Socialist Party of America.

People called FDR a socialist/communist for all of his programs that helped end the depressiong. They called him this when he proposed and passed social security. The Dem then had a war that was worth fighting, a war that I would have supported. (The last war I would have supported by the way) Times were different, Democrats are still the party of the ordinary person, the only problem is that now most of them are controlled by the major corporations that fund their elections. They still seem to do more for the people than the Reps who are totally upfront about being for the wealthy and the corporations.

The democratic party also used to be Racists, bigots, and slave owners. Thankfully they've changed. I'm as much of a democrat as you are intelligent (f.y.i. I'm not a democrat), but to look at the history of either party with the rose colored glasses that ignore their racism, sexism, classism is just silly. The difference to me is that one party got beyond these a little; the other one didn't. But forget um both, I say.

Their selection to apply Proportional representation interior the primaries thereby persevering with the competition longer and making it greater bitter. I additionally think of the unhappiness from being out of the White abode so long has contributed to this bitterness.

Unfortunately most WW2 era democrats ,who were true patriots ,have either died off or have been shoved into nursing homes where their voice is not heard.
The new democrats are like you say socialist who believe they must lead the masses to the one world order which they believe they are the only ones capable of leading.

tv and and later on the internet. now days every word and every action is under a microscope. everyone, not just the dems. are afraid to stand up and say what they really feel. they choose their words so not to upset any one group of people and lose their individuality and ultimately their souls.

Where are you getting these ideas? Just ONCE I would like someone to define specifically who you are talking about. I have never heard anyone say the garbage you attribute to Democrats. Who are these people who have these stupid ideas you keep accusing Democrats of? Who hates our troops or has done anything BUT support them and want them to come home safely? Who wants a welfare state? Wasn't it Clinton who passed welfare reform? Where are you getting this rubbish? Post a link or something. Otherwise, you're just blowing hot air.

Liberals tend to believe in the social contract, that we are stronger as a nation when we empower each other and conduct our government for broad social benefit rather than for individual benefit. Liberals do not believe that the end justifies the means. Liberals believe in the common good. They care about their own neighbors, their own communities and people who are different than they are.

They strive to enfranchise as many people as possible. They led the fight for black Americans and women to get the right to vote. Liberals believe in the separation of church and state. They led the fight for older and disabled Americans who wanted public restrooms and sidewalks to accommodate wheelchairs. They fought for American workers who wanted a decent minimum wage and a forty-hour work week. They outlawed child labor so children wouldn’t have to work like slaves in factories and mines. They stand for working mothers who need equal pay and decent childcare and helped institute safe retirement plans from employers. They support preschool nutritional programs and after-school programs for the poor. They fight for prenatal care programs and health care for all so our children can grow up healthy.

Liberals support homosexuals who want to be able to rent a house or an apartment or get a job or adopt a child or form a civil union without discrimination. They fight for police organizations that plead for a ban on the guns that slaughter police officers and over 40,000 Americans every year. Liberals believe in taking care of the environment and protecting our people from pollution and poisons that are being put in the air and water. They led the fight for the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and protection of our national parks from development and degradation.

They stand for protecting our Constitutional freedoms, including freedom of speech. They want the Internet to remain free. They want to strengthen the study of science and technology so that our young people will be able to pass the new global job market tests and have bright futures.

Liberals fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry and to have products properly labeled for our protection. Liberals fought for affordable public transportation, workers’ compensation and unemployment benefits. Liberals instituted the federal insurance of the FSLIC to protect our money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression. They fought for student loans, mortgage assistance, rural electrification and Social Security.

These are some of the reasons I’m proud to be a liberal because, as a Christian, these issues represent my moral values: caring about the less fortunate, being tolerant of my fellow humans, taking good care of the planet God gave us.
