I live in Virginia, the Old Dominion state (actually, it is not a state, it is one of four commonwealths -- the others are Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts). The state flower is the Dogwood, the state bird is the Cardinal, and we once had a state song, written by a black man.
But it used the word da*ky, so it has now been declared inappropriate and the search is on for another. Someone thought it would be nice if they could find one written by a black man. (HUNH?)
Virginia once seceded from the union, but eventually rejoined.
