I live in Sacramento, Ca and its getting harder to find black men of any substance.

No I'm not saying that they have to be proper and well to do I just want to connect with a black man on an intellectual level. I've had it happen before, but things didn't work out.

Where are the good ones hiding? (Please don't say they're with white girls because only the terrible ones go outside their race, its true!)

I'm not dating out my race so that is not an option.

As a black man, I can tell you... don't look in the clubs and the bars. That was the last place I cruised when I was ready to get serious about finding a woman of substance, but the first place when I wanted "fun" only.

Consider churches, professional network groups, social network causes and volunteer organizations. Check with your local meetups group. Find one based on your career interest, hobbies and causes that you support. This will increase your chances of finding a like-minded guy. Hey, I hope this helps!

Why do you think that 'only the terrible ones go outside their race?'
We should get over this type of thinking. We live in a global community and people are wonderful no matter what ethnicity.
You sound a tad rigid to me. It's probably this attitude of closed mental state that is getting in the way of you meeting people.
Live you life. Open up to the world. The sky is the limit.
I hope you'll find the man you're looking for. Good luck to you .

I know I may get thumbs down for this but times are hard for black woman. A lot of black men are incarcerated. It's a sad but true fact. A lot of black men are in gay or "down low" relationships, which are on the rise. There is also a portion that are players and womanizers. There another segment that refuses to date black women, but instead dates exclusively outside the race. I for one met my husband at college back in the late 80's. Nowadays the rate of black men are college are so low that most black women don't have that option. I suggest trying to meet someone at your church, join a civic organization or internet dating.

1.) A woman couldn't find a good man if he was sitting on her lap.

2.) Race has nothing to do with anything. So why the attitude toward white, Asian, and all the others?

3.) A woman couldn't find a good man if he was sitting on her lap.

maybe you are looking in the wrong places.. and i am sorry but/ sacramento .? i think it is wrong of u to say the terrible ones are with white girls. that is a generalization and it makes u sound like a hater. that attitude alone could keep you from finding any good man..black or otherwise. happy hunting.

I was in the military for 26 years so I can only give my view point from that. I worked with many intelligent black men, the majority of them were married to women of other races and other countries.

Many black men that I was and still am acquainted to, do not like the brash, loud personalities of some (not all) black women. If you are interested in meeting some good black men look into some type of site that caters to military men and women. I wish you luck in finding your perfect mate.

not just good black men, but just a good man in general.

if you limit yourself on who you can love based on their race, is being closed minded and limiting your chance to love.

you should expect love from someone who will love you for you no matter what color you show on the outside

Try attending a traditionally black college like Howard. Here's a list - http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0771723.html

We're not hard to find, maybe you just need to change something within yourself. It says in the Bible, A life without change. Is a wasted life. Find out who you are, & show that person to the world.

I can't tell you why they are hard to find, but where are you looking? I suggest there may be more of the kind of guy you're looking for in churches and educational institutions.
Happy hunting!
