I recommend using Sittercity. This finds people in your area that are able to work at the hours that you need them to. You can even check back rounds on the people baby sitting.

You could hire someone to pick her up from daycare & watch her for an hour...might be extra $ though-perhaps one of the care center workers would be looking to pick up extra hours? I am sure in NY there has got to be a day care that stays open later than 6pm- my mom worked late and our center was open till 8pm- some place out there is open for you- you should call around and ask- the centers will know of a later care center- good luck!!

How about finding a SAHM that can watch your child. It would be cheaper than daycare (Unless you need to use a licensed daycare if you have DSHS). I am a nanny for a couple here in Washington state that have two kids that are both developmentally delayed and they get more attention from me than they would at a daycare.

You could try looking for a home daycare or a nanny. I do home daycare for military families and I have extremely flexible hours for my families. I also nannied for a family where my hours were from 10am-8pm.
