I'd agree with economic factors such as a falling Canadian dollar or increased transportation costs.
Hassle issues such as long boarder line ups, and security screening and requiring a passport also turn people off.
The Canadian dollar is at a 30 year high, so even if there are other negative factors, they may still go. Gas cost might have been high this year, but it didn't mean a trip to the US was more than in the past.

I am not Canadian but as an American we should learn much more from them...
Do you know that in our country's (USA) history this is the very first time Americans are "Immigrating" to Canada???
True. Research and learn about it.
Our people are massively moving to Canada so it's government had to greatly increased their border patrols...
Funny...
All we need now is Canada building a wall at the border so Americans would stop passing illegally as it is happening at this very moment.
See? What out government gives, eventually receives... and who's paying for that? Of course, us.
Read more about this and about Canada's economy, population, such and educated people, and... crime, almost nonexistent...
Instead of trouble makers coming to our country, I prefer Canadians, more of them more the merrier...

Higher cost of gas, higher cost of winter rentals, crappy money exchange rate, how long there health insurance will remain active while in the U.S.
