If their careers were suddenly stopped today, how many are legit HOFers? Here's what I think:
QB- Peyton Manning, Tom Brady
RB-LaDainian Tomlinson
WR-Marvin Harrisson, Terrell Owens, Isaac Bruce
TE-Tony Gonzales
OL-Orlando Pace, Larry Allen, Jonathon Ogden, Walter Jones
DL-Michael Strahan, Jason Taylor, Simeon Rice
LB-Ray Lewis, Derrick Brooks
DB-Champ Bailey, John Lynch, Brian Dawkins
P-Shane Lechler
K-Morten Anderson

That's right, Favre DIDN'T retire this time again. He sure should have. I just wanted to see how many of you would jump up all over that one. Shane Lechler is the best punter in the history of the NFL, he'll make it one day for sure. How could you possibly say Manning wouldn't be in? I think that if LT stopped today he would be in for sure. Gale Sayers' stats don't come close to LT. Sayers is not in the top 50 of any stat, while LT is in 5 categories.

I am a big Bears fan, and I'm not ready to put Urlacher in yet. He's put together a handful of great years, but not enough to get in yet. Simeon Rice is 12th all time in sacks, he is in. Brooks has been one of the best in the league for over a decade, he's in. You can't start talking about Gates yet, he's only played 3 seasons for god's sake! Lechler is the all time leader in punting average, not Feagles. Shaun Alexander is only 25th all time in rushing, not nearly good enough to put in the hall. I think Olin Kruetz is the best in the league, but give him a few years before you place him in Canton.

Forgot that Seau came back for the Pats, he's a lock for sure.

All of the players you mentioned are possibilities, but not all of them are LOCKS. The players you mentioned that people would have to think about, players that just might not get in are T.O., Bruce, Allen, Jones, Rice, Taylor, Dawkins, and Lechler. All of them have a chance, but they aren't foregone conclusions in my view. And, of course, Favre is an absotue lock to make the hall of fame.

Some other locks:

Junior Seau
Richard Seymour
Warren Sapp

Definite maybes:

Shaun Alexander
Adam Vinatierri
Rodney Harrison
Tedy Bruschi

Keep it up young man and you're in:

Brian Urlacher
Ed Reed
Antonio Gates

No one in the NFL today is more deserving to go to the HOF than Favre...and while agree with everyone on your list (except Lechler) I have to add the tight end Antonio Gates and the LB Brian Urlacher because they are just so dominating at their repective positions. You might also wanna add someone like Olin Kreutz who has made something like 7 consecutive Pro Bowls on behalf of the Bears. Shaun Alexander also. Before his injury plagued season, he went for something like 5 consecutive seaons with 1500+ rushing yards, and he was the only one to do that. Actually, I'm not sure what he did, but I remember hearing that he was the only one.

Have to disagree with Isaac Bruce and certainly Shane Lechler.

There's only 1 punter in the HOF, Ray Guy. If it took him forever to get there, nobody else has much of a chance.

Take out Terrel Owens. Your forgetting Junior Seau at LB. He is the all time tackle leader. Put in Zach Thomas to.

i dont agree with t.o.- football voters vote for on the field and off the field stuff and while t.o. has the on the field numbers, he ruined sanfransisco and philadelphia so thats why i dont think hes a lock yet

i also dont agree with simeon rice and derrick brooks cuz even though they both had a few great seasons, i dont think they had enough of those great seasons

and u forgot brett favre whos definately a lock

Unfortunately probably Brett Favre as well. I have to disagree w/ Lechler as well - almost impossible to get in as a punter, and I don't see him as having done anything to distinguish himself over dozens of others over the years.
