I am currently renting an apartment in Ft. Worth, TX under a TAA lease. I have about 6 months left on the lease and am wanting to get out of it to move in with a friend of mine, closer to where I work. Is there anyway to get out of this type of lease? Or am I SOL?

If you break a lease you are responsible for the remainder of the lease or until the landlord places a new tenant whichever comes first. The LL had an obligation to make an ordinary effort to place a new tenant to minimize your losses. Most courts have held that 2 months is sufficient time to place a tenant though local conditions can sway that either way.

Check your lease, though, as it may have the termination penalty spelled out in it. If so, that's generally what you are liable for. (Some leases will say that you are liable for the entire lease. That is not true -- see the above paragraph.)

Ask your landlord what he or she is willing to do. Most will settle for one or two months worth of rent and will release you from the remainder of the lease.

Umm, HELL NO!! That psycho cow has been dragging my credit score down into the pit of Sarnac for the beyond twelve years and I'm no longer approximately to make the equal mistake all over again and believe the bidtch- that is the definition of insane conduct proper there. I could also be loopy- however no longer that loopy. Putting my lifestyles at danger and jumping faithfully into love is something, taking the equal threat time and again since you deep down nonetheless take care of any individual and you are hoping for distinctive outcome is solely fugging dull. Obviously, that is simply my little tale, you're an upstanding honorable guy who is most of the time seeking to get on his toes after a few terrible character used and abused your love like chewing gum and spat it out onto the sidewalk like a teenie tiny little red mind to be mushed and smushed my one million boot heels and sneaker soles till it is not anything greater than a grey stain within the concrete. You, Sir, deserve a threat- and the lady who bore your youngsters must appear deep inside that factor she calls a center and uncover some thing that the leisure people men and women name compassion and she or he must uncover the primary ball factor pen and signal her title and her credit score proper at the line wherein the owner positioned the 'X'. Just my opinion at the topic. -Later
