I am English, but I think it would seriously annoy me, if I was one of you guys, as we are all individual nationalities.

I am happy to be called British and I think together we make a great team , but I do think it is important to recognise all the countries of the UK as individual nationalities.

Yes. But what pisssisss me off is when they fly the UNION jack and claim its the English flag. This does not happen so often now. This because the English over the last few years have actually found the George Cross. They feel it is a symbol for them. Unfortunately they have know identity and still go out in there thousands every year on Paddy's day. Strange but true they think being nationalist is to sing filthy songs and mess up a good game of rugby because the football team was shite that year. No it doesn't bother me. What does it mean to be English and be care full not to mix it up with being British

Sorry I am English, but thought I would add my point of view as having since moved to the USA, people keep thinking I am Australian, I can see how easy it would be to confuse the languages of the United Kingdom as I never thought I could be confused with the Auzzie accent. It depends if people know full well you are Irish, Welsh or Scottish then yes that's naughty and I could see how that would be annoying but if they are not from the UK at all, it might be hard to distinguish between the accents a bit!

I am English by birth but choose to live in Wales. That makes me a half-Taff. Everything's fine until there's a rugby match!
I wouldn't dare wear an English shirt at a pub if it's an England vs Wales game otherwise I'd have to buy all the drinks!Even in Ireland or Scotland I have to pretend I'm Welsh. It's friendly rivalry, that's all

Yes it does i am Scottish i only speak English. It would be better if they just said British. But what really annoys me is when they think England is Britian.

Why would it annoy you? I'm of Scottish heritage but I could easily make the same mistake. We don't look that different.
My patriotism lies with Scotland but I could hardly fault someone for thinking me to look English, or Swedish, or even German. Google images for Cynthia Ann Parker, mother of Quanah Parker, the last great Comanche war chief. Cynthia was full blooded German but she looked just as Comanche as her husband, Chief Peta Nocoma. She knew that and never took offense at being called Comanche.

Yeah it does annoy me, but I just set them right.

What annoys me more is when some English people use Engish and British as the same word basically.

I was often mistaken for Australia, having lived out there for awhile. Some years previously was mistaken for I'ish by someone from that part of Britain - didn't worry me and some of my Cousins are from there(I)and it doesn't worry them. Hope that answers you Chris but have to watch out how I word my answer it seems?
