Unfortunatly, it sounds like the metal plating is coming off and you are now seeing the exposed nickel. You could try a jewelry cloth, but I don't think that that will do you much good at this point. About all I can recommend is to get some metal paint and repaint it. After you have painted it, try putting some clear finger nail polish on it to keep the paint from wearing off too fast (and if you are allergic to nickel, it will help keep your finger from getting a rash from it).

Check these questions.....Do you know if it is fully silver or 925? Could it be just "plated" with silver (silver over base metal), and could it be Platinum?? Platinum has to be coated every year or so to protect it. However, platinum is quite nice and you don't seem to be mentioning something that would sound like a platinum problem. Gosh, reddish orange doesn't sound good. Please take it back with your receipt to see what they say. Good luck to you!

Try some toothpaste and an old toothbrush.
Works really well on real silver.

If it is real silver you can clean it by soaking it in denture cleaner tablets, then rinse it real good when finished cleaning.

You could try Tarn-away. It's an oxidizer. It might help.
Good luck.
