The meaning of a conservative has stayed pretty constant over time. It means people who aim to retain traditions - people opposed to change.
The root of the world liberal in politics comes from liberty. Historically, through about the 1920's, liberals meant people who strongly favored freedom in all forms - the type of people who are now called libertarians. Historically, this was synonymous with being on the political left, and people forgot what the origin of the word was. Eventually, the left started to become socialists, and being conservative actually, in many cases, meant fighting for liberal traditions. Really, though, there are three schools of thought - leftism/socialism, liberalism, and conservatism.

Liberal means generous and Conservative means stingy. Those are literal meanings. Liberalism in politics is the belief that we should help each other as opposed to Conservatism which is the belief that we should only look out for ourselves.

Sort of, but the terms are used loosely in some cases - penumbras and emanations and all that. Strictly speaking, it is possible to be both conservative *and* liberal in a philosophical sense; but the terms have come to be applied in a political sense to nominally contrary positions.

No both give or save based on what they believe to be a worthy cause. Everyone is a little of both and to say other wise proves your mind is as closed as people that think we are the only intelligent lifeforms in this vast universe we call home.

No, those aren't the meaning of the words. But I'm a conservative and I'll SAVE you the further embarassment of making pointless observations of this nature by GIVING you a dictionary, so you can look up the precise meaning of the words.

Usually, yes.
It also has to do with changes in how the present relates to the past. Whether the lessons learned from experiences were kept or discarded.

If I am taking the question in the right context, yes, that is what it is supposed to mean. You need to rephrase your question and give an example of what you mean.

First liberals take - then they give in such as way as to make themselves feel better. Remember that a liberal is someone who will spend as much of someone elses money as it takes to make the liberal feel better. It doesn't matter that the results are not there, or even counterproductive. (Think welfare dependency) It is the giving (which requires taking) that is important to them.
