Ok, try to follow me here.

My great grandmother gave birth to two girls and one boy.

That one boy gave birth to my grandmother and one other girl.

My grandmother gave birth to my mother and my mother had me and my two sisters. (My mom miscarried twice before having me and my sister, and the two babies were both girls)

Almost all the second and third cousins on my moms side of the family are girls.

So are all these girls a big coincidence or is it in my familys genetics that we mostly have girls?

The male determines the sex of the baby not the female. So your theory is not possible.

What you've described is not statistically all that improbable. It's most likely just coincidence. Sure, I can think of a lot of possible ways that hypothetically, girls could be favored... like there is some genetic or chromosomal flaw being passed from parent to daughter which makes XY embryos non-viable or less viable after conception, or inhibits the success of Y sperm. But most would be too complex to easily discover, and none have ever been shown to exist, as far as I know.

I really don't think genetics has anything to do with it. It is more coincidental I feel. I did a chapter in genetics in my Anatomy and Physiology 2 class in college and genetics are sooo random that theyre some times very hard to predict unless youve had actually testing. One little "kink" or "missing link" in a chromosome can make the biggest changes. Considering the fact that the male determines the sex because females only have "XX" chromosomes and the males have "XY" and the male gives up either an "X" or a "Y" of that pair, leads me to believe its only coincidental.

I know a family with 7 sons. And in my family, all of the girls are having mostly boys - all my siblings together have a total of 10 children, and only three are girls. I think that it is possible that your genetics can make you more prone to one gender. Even though the gender is determined by the sperm, it is thought that male sperm and female sperm may thrive better in different kinds of environements. So, the environment of a woman's body, including what her cervical mucus is like, could impact which sperm make it to the egg.

edit: ... it's a real scientific theory... i'm sorry if people don't want to believe it, but that doesn't make it untrue.

There are a couple of things that affect the sex of the baby. First, of course, is how many male and female sperm the father makes. Second is the length of time before fertilization the sperm is injected. Male sperm dies much faster than female, so if intercourse takes place a day or two before ovulation, the baby is more likely to be female. Third is the pH of the vagina. Alkaline versus acid pH's foster one or the other, I can't remember which, but if the women in your family were in the habit of vinegar and water douches, that may have increased the chances of girls. My grandmother had four girls and my mother had two, no boys. They both used the vinegar and water douches. But none of these is a guarantee.

ok. the sex of the baby has nothing to do with the mother or her genetics. it is the chromosome that the sperm carries that determines that. so to put it mildly. thats daddy's department. now it really is a fifty fifty chance of what it's going to be. however studies have shown that there are more women in this world than men. i think its a 2:1 ratio. so maybe men just make more of the x chromosome than the y. but no sex of a child is not genetic.

a million. Sexuality is definitely one among the failings drilled into us from the 2d we are conceived (and likewise as a results of society), the thank you to gown advantageous, the thank you to do your hair, the thank you to behave like a toddler. this is a organic instinct. We have been genetically made to be drawn to the choice intercourse, for some human beings a similar intercourse, regardless of, you catch my flow. indubitably if there became right into a boy and woman on a abandoned island, while they matured, they probable could have intercourse, yet to me it could probable be greater primal than something. 2&3. If a woman and a woman/boy and boy have been remoted from society and had no impression of the exterior international, i could seem to think of that they had advance sexual emotions for an added, because of the fact at the beginning, they don't be attentive to that yet another intercourse exists and that they might not think of something weird and wonderful approximately them being jointly. 4. approximately this one, i in my opinion don't be attentive to the way that could paintings, once you're homophobic, then you definately're homophobic. i'm fairly helpful that in the event that they knew relating to the international and had strict perspectives coping with gays/lesbians, that the main that could ensue could be them arising an in depth dating, style of like sisters or suited friends. 5. think of of the evolution of human beings.... We went from surprising flint jointly to make hearth to utilizing a lighter, from carrying super a lot massive distances, to making buggies, vehicles, etc. In prehistoric cases, human beings looked for the meaning of existence and the writer of theirs. i do no longer think of that it will ever replace, because of the fact 40,000 years later, we've progressed and continues to be asking a similar questions our ancestors asked hundreds of years in the past.

The sex is determined by the male. So its a coincidence

There husbands/partners are the one's who decided the sex

Thats why Henry the 8th was such a fool, killing his wives and getting rid of them for making girls. He was the one that determined it

Woman X
Man XY

it is a coincidence. in my husband's family it's all about boys, otherwise, same story as you. it just goes to show the 50/50 ratio holds true.

if you want to have a boy someday...try conceiving on the exact date you ovulate. supposedly the male sperm is quicker and will reach the egg first. i don't know if you're thinking about that yet but just something to consider someday.
