That is more of a question of philosophy than physics. However, some theoretical physics is more like a philosophy. Some of the greatest scientists including physicists know there is a distinction between religion, philosophy, and science. They never attempted to mingle them together.
So, for you answer, which is my opinion If you have notice, lot of theories in science get improved or replaced... so the universe as we know it... there is a lot to learn about it.
Everyday we learn something new no matter what it is, and learning is a continuous process. I guess that is the message I want you to take home today.

You mean the purpose of life? That is easy.
We are here to entertain god so that he doesn't decide to blow up the earth. Wonder why no one has ever reach world peace? If the greater being is in the mood for an action film he just has us start up a war, we fight until he gets bored and lets us stop...
