The whole country was onboard with it Because Bush and his administration lied to us and Congress (A Felony) about the Niger Document and said Saddam had tried to acquire Nuclear Material and our next warning would "be in the form of a mushroom cloud" Condi and Rumsfeld also used this analogy. We now know, and Bush has admitted that that was not true. Read the speach in the link and tell me how many times he mentions Saddam/Iraq and 9-11. Its obvious he was trying to link them in peoples minds.
EDIT: WOW I posted Bush's own speech and words as my source and got thumbs down! LMFAO! How brainwashed is that!

Because the American public are very fickle and easily swayed by the media. Remember 9/11? Remember how every American and its allies all rallied to go to war against all who were involved in the attacks. Well they got war, but now that it went south and people are dying by the droves they need someone to blame and since Bush was the one that pushed the button everyone acts as if they never wanted the war and just say it was all Bush that did it.
A fine example of this was what happened to Athens after the Peloponnesian war, all the commanders and the public figures of Athens were executed because they went to war and lost. Kinda the same thing thats happening now, people are all bashing the current government since the war is looking bad.

Media smear campaigns work with people willing to buy them.
The truth is, most good Americans do not want a long war. We are all bothered by the deaths of our troops and war casualties. The US nation values life.
So we want the war to end. For the killing to stop.
The Republicans and the Democrats, with their typical platforms, both want to proceed representing their constituents. And the Democrats have moved Left, as they believe their constituency has moved Left. The Left is anti-war. But the Democrats in Congress know they cannot just bring home the troops without worse problems.
The war is in everyone's way. So Bush is the fall guy.

I guess those of you who keep saying Bush lied about the intelligence reports don't understand how our government works. I could give you the account of what really happened, who gave permission to go to war and take out Saddam but you would just put your hands over your eyes and plug your ears and sing lalalalala Bush lied! So you keep thinking that and I won't confuse you with facts. Here's a question for you Bush haters, you all keep saying how dumb he is, yet he was smart enough to fool most of the liberals in congress what does that say about their intelligence?

He knew that there was no weapons of mass destruction. What, he was going in there to fight the "War on Terrorism"? Please!! If it was really about the "War on Terrorism" against the United States we would've been all over Afghanistan and Bin Ladin would have been hanging at the end of that rope not Sadam!! Not saying Sadam didn't deserve it, but first things first .Bush used what happened in our Country on 9/11 to go after Sadam for his own personal gain! I'm sure that Bin La din is dead but Bush has to keep him alive because if he came back with Bin Ladins body, all the dumb people that still believe that this war is about fighting terrorism against the U.S. would start saying now "Why are we still in the Middle East if Bin Ladin is dead?"

First of all, in my view, anyone who financially support the ICTY (the injustice institution in Sodom and Gomorrah, excuse me, in the Hague) is a war criminal. Besides, I regard invading other countries, without provocation, as an illegal war, and using depleted uranium as a war crime. And I believe most people around the world agree with me.

I am a moderate independent who hates Bush, and I believe is immoral invasion of Iraq was one of the greatest foreign policy blunders in American history. He lied to us about the reasons for invading Iraq, and he spearheaded a massive propaganda campaign for the invasion which tarnished the reputation of Colin Powell.
Bush is a loathsome, lying, weasel who will go down as one of the worst presidents in US history. Count on it, dude!

The don't care. They are seeping into their pre 9/11 hate america and it military, America is the cause for all the worlds problems coma.
They stopped talking about it for a few short years after 9/11 because the entire country shifted against them and would have been the end for them if they spoke up.
It is all about the polls. Liberal leaders will only follow what those say.

Bush has the task of making policy and strategy in Iraq. He is directly responsible for the outcome as commander in chief.
