does anyone doubt that whatever version of Islam we converted to, the leaders of the other kind would still try to hijack planes and fly them into our buildings?
Hate Bush all you want - - - - hey, hate America all you want - I think you're sick but even if you hate America, that STILL isn't a reason to fail to grasp that these people are just pure hateful, genocidal lunatics and nothing more!

OK yes, we did elect Bush.
We have a system. We use the electoral college. Bush won fair and square, no matter how you recount the votes, what you count as a Gore vote, Bush won.
There isn't a majority vote. There is an electoral college. You might not like that but all the voters and all the candidates knew that going in. Thus we all voted or didn't vote based on that, and the candidates' and parties' strategies were based on that. You can't just take the total vote count achieved under one scnenario and go back and say "if the rule were different" - - - it's like saying if field goals counted for only 2 points instead of 3, a football team that won 15-14 on five field goals would have lost 14-10 - - - it is likely that in some of those instances they wouldn't have settled for the field goal, thus you have no idea what would have happened.

'Sides, exactly what would Gore have done to prevent 9/11? Go into Afghanistan BEFORE a terrorist strike? Attack a country that hadn't attacked us????? But......

Adam how, how would there be peace? That's like saying if we hadn't elected Clinton, Timothy McVeigh wouldn't have bombed the Murrah building. Except that there was one McVeigh - or two, him and his buddy - - - and there are millions of Islamic radicals.
