FROM WIKIPEDIA:
Steve Wilkos (born Steven John Wilkos on March 9, 1964), originally from Chicago, Illinois, is the former director of security on The Jerry Springer Show. On many occasions he substitutes for Springer as host of The Jerry Springer Show. On January 17, 2007, it was announced that Steve Wilkos will be set to leave The Jerry Springer Show and will host a talk show of his own, produced by NBC.

Personal background
Wilkos is the son of Stanley Wilkos, a Chicago police officer and Jeanette Wilkos, a beauty school instructor. In junior high, Wilkos was 135 pounds and wore glasses. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and was enlisted for 7 years. In 1989, he received an honorable discharge. In 1990, Wilkos followed in his father's footsteps and became a Chicago police officer. In May 1994, the producers of The Jerry Springer Show needed to have security guards for a Ku Klux Klan-related show[1], so they decided to hire off-duty police. Wilkos recruited several fellow officers for the job, and has been with the show since. Steve appeared as a guest on Check, Please, a restaurant-reviewing program on Chicago's PBS station, WTTW.

In January 2007, NBC Universal Television officially announced that Wilkos will host a spin-off talk show of his own. The show is based at NBC Tower in Chicago. The self-titled program is expected to serve as a companion to both "Springer" and Maury and already has attracted the attention of major broadcasting groups. The Steve Wilkos Show premiered on Monday September 10, 2007 in a timeslot that in some markets was previously slotted for Maury Povich.

I saw the show today. It had an upset mother-in-law, concerned about her 8 month pregnant daughter married to an abusive and defiant son-in-law.

The man proved himself to be a person of more character than 1st appearance. He admitted his reliance on anger and agreed to anger management counseling. Everyone Wilkos recommended counseling for accepted it things like anger management like the mother in law.

Teenagers need to see the emotional maturity I witnessed. Although Wilkos was very firm he never was violent. He was very forceful but kept ferretting out valid psychological points.
