Boyd/Coast resorts are some of my favorite.
What you get is a nice clean room at a bargain rate, along with great value buffet/restaurant/fast food.
The GC renovated their rooms a couple of years ago, they are much nicer now, & include 32in LCD TV's. The rooms are a little on the small side though, 360sq ft.(Orleans rooms are 480sq ft)
The GC pool is heated and open year round, winter hours are from 10am-6pm, the pool is small(20' by 50' maybe) but you won't have to worry about crowds - They have a Jacuzzi also, which feels pretty good on those cool December days :)
Their free shuttle(s) run from 9am-midnight - One runs to Bill's Gamblin Hall in the center of the strip and takes around 10 minutes, depending on traffic. The GC is only 1.1 miles from the strip. They also have a shuttle to the Orleans, that takes about 5 minutes.
If you're out later than midnight on the strip you can always take either the free shuttle for the Palm(from Caesars) or Rio(from Paris/Bally's) one of them runs until 3-4am depending on the night of the week.
The GC, Palms & Rio form a small cluster about 1 mile West of the strip, it's an easy walk across the street from one to the other.

GC is a good place to play low limit table games > The best video poker is quarter 9/6 JOB
Their slot club "Club Coast" is a good one if you're looking for free rooms in the future. It takes very little play to get on their marketing radar. Their point system is backwards from most in that it works on a "coin out" rather than "coin in" system. 1$ won = 1 point(most of the time) they do have double point days quite frequently. The cash back is among the very best in LV, .3% - most casinos in LV are at .1% or less.
The casino is huge(120,000sq ft) - If you like to play bingo, the GC is as good as it gets. They have a small poker room. >The Orleans is the better play for poker.
Buffet - "Port O' Calls" - this is one of the highest rated, best value buffets in LV -
B - $6.95
L - $8.45
D - $12.95
Seafood/Thursday - $17.95
Steak/Sunday - $13.95
Sunday Brunch - $12.95
Lunch is the best value.
If you're an early riser or a night owl, the Monterey room(cafe) at the GC has some of the very best "graveyard" specials to be found anywhere >served 11pm-6am
As good as the GC buffet is, the "French Market Buffet" at the Orleans is even better. >If you want to pick up a bottle, Terrible's Wine & Liquor at the Orleans has the best prices in LV
We will be at the GC for 10 nights in December.

The rooms have been upgraded to meet the Boyd Casino standards (hugh flat screen TV; etc.). It is not a luxurious spot, but you may have a good chance of getting a suite there. I have never been to the buffet, but some of my traveling friends said it isn't bad. I love the Gold Coast Casino! Last time I was there I won $1000 on the Lobster Mania game that is attached to the penny "Fort Knox Vault" system. The casino is never really crowded and doesn't get extremely smoky.

I Was there and everything was fine. However, I was there while a punk rock festival was going on. Year 2000. And the reason I was there was the fest itself, not Las Vegas type of life.lol.
So maybe you can infere its not such a good place from that?
Rooms were clean, staff friendly and overall polishness and friendliness... Just perfect.
Only thing I would have removed...was the typical Vegas customers!!!! F slot machine addicts!!!
If you ask me, I really thought the Gold Coast was really really off... that´s the reason they took a PUNK festival. Because they lack quality and are desperate. But they were really nice to everyone. It´s good Hotel management if you ask me.
4 thumbs up (out of 5 )

I have been to the hotel because one of my friends was staying there and to tell you the truth it is a very desent hotel I mean its clean and if you are in a budget you will do just fine. It close to Las Vegas Blvd. so thats a plus but take in consideration that of the Coast hotels this hotel is old, but I really think that its worth what you pay, one of the cool things too is that they have free shuttle service to the strip (Las Vegas Blvd)
Have fun! << Las Vegas is like my second home since my parants live over there I get to go alot.
But you know what most of those hotels like big hotels always have good rooms and its worth what you pay... bad hotels are like motel 6 super 8 motel .... small hotels

budget friendly and a solid region on the Strip may be the extensive-unfold rooms on the Imperial Palace, the Flamingo and Harrahs. The decor of the extensive-unfold rooms is older and old with Harrah's probably having the nicest extensive-unfold rooms, however the on line casino feels claustrophobic to me because of the low ceilings. you won't be in a position to overcome the places or the fee (on strip) of any of them. easily Harrah's and the Flamingo have rooms as low as $39 weekdays and the Imperial Palace has rooms as low as $28 for weekdays None of those places charge a “motel fee” the two.
