I would like to get an account in a bank in another city and have access to the account only if i visit the bank . Iam having hard time saving money so i would like to deposit in a far away bank may be a savings account and later to a cd so that i cannot touch the amount frequently.

Depends on where you live... example... I do the same thing... I live in Houston yet have a savings account in Texas State Bank in South Texas... There are NO Texas state banks in the Houston area so I can't touch it... If there is it's so small I've never noticed it! Get a list of banks and try to get one that is not so popular (BOA, Amegy, Chase ect... ) I'm sure you'll find one...

It retains value well and appreciates over time. It's liquid enough when you really need it but not so liquid that you can tap into it all the time.

Not only can you deposit in a bank in another city or state, you can even have a bank account in another country.

YES. Especially with banks like KEY that are only in select states.

Plus it means more customers for them.
