I am from England also and i like continental films like Bergman classics like 'The Seventh Seal', (Swedish). I also like Chinese films like Hero, in the mood for love and anything by Jet Li.

Well Moon, the Dutch movie industry is very small indeed.
So I sort of watch any movie that seems to have an interesting
enough plot.
I'm not to keen on Hollywood blockbusters in general, and I prefer comedy as a sort of light entertainment.
But to be very honest, almost none of the make it to my
favourite lists.
What do I like then ?.
Any Kurusawa movie, The Usual Suspects / Once were Warriors / Sophie's Choice / One flew over the Cuckoo's nest
/ Das Boot / The Good,The Bad, The Ugly....to name a few.

Thanks again,

With the domination of Hollywood, don't we all (except perhaps Americans, for whom most films even in English have to be "dubbed" and feature American actors whatever the location)? But generally I avoid that fare, and prefer Australian, European, or British (they've always been unique, especially with comedy) when they aren't on the Hollywood or TV model. Non-American films have their own particular national flavors I find interesting and engaging. US films are best at slapstick. That computes - look at George Bush. Of course, Ozzie films are rare, with a leisurely dry humor of their own I love as an Ozzie. We're a vanishing species, given to celebrating defeat and chuckling in adversity rather than making an opera out of it. Or navel gazing. Or vicariously playing Super Heroes. And I prefer irony and the chuckle, wherever I can find it. I've had enough heavy drama in real life, and don't need it on screen as a placebo.

Just about all the movies here in the US go outside to other countries to film so they're just about all foreign to me, but if you're talking language.... I don't watch many movies anymore, I have mild ADHD and I lose interest quickly. So I usually just watch action movies so I don't stray too far and can actually finish a movie. I've watched films w/subtitles before, but couldn't tell you what they were called because I didn't speak the language. Thank You and You also Moon! :-)

Yes, I love foreign films; I'm Australian, living in America(you know that). My favourites:

Farinelli
The Bitter Tears Of Petra Von Kant
Rosa Luxemburg
The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari
Zentropa
Swept Away(By A Different Destiny)--The Lena Wertmuller original, not the horrible Madonna remake.

I'm from California. I love Bollywood films and also occasionally watch Italian and French films (since I can understand the languages). In the past, I used to watch a lot of Japanese and Swedish films, but not much recently.

I really hit on turning the sound down and getting a few people together and we take a character and make up the dialogue as the movie goes along.
Hey don't knock it till you've tried it!. You've really got to be pretty quick at times to keep the flow going.

..............and thank you back, I had a great weekend how did yours end up?

yes i do, I'm from the Philippines

aside from Hollywood films, i love watching HK films, Tamil and bollywood films, also Malaysian films.

i remember Ive seen one movie from bollywood, i forgot the tittle but i was crying like mad especially at the ending, the two lovers were separated by the girls family bec the guy is poor, and on the ending, after a few years, the girl already has her own family, a husband and kids, then one day she was on a motorcycle behind her hubby and on the traffic she heard a familiar voice from a mad man on the street, and that mad man was her ex. and the scene just blow me away, it was unforgettable!

Yes. I'm from the U.S. I've watched movies from France, Italy and Germany. But they have to have subtitles or be dubbed in English. I do speak some German, but not enough to understand what's going on in an entire movie.
