I have Windows XP Media Center, it does not let me add DVD's because of copyright...but what about my VHS tapes? Can I connect my VCR to my PC?

Use a DVD ripping program to copy the DVD & a PVR card/usb (card is better) for the VCR input.

Download DVD copy and rip them but about your VHS tapes i think with media center you can connect your video out from the VCR to your PC then record to the HDD but this will take up quite a lot of space

sorry, before you spend money on upgrades for your computer, realize that pre-recorded VHS movies have a copyright signal that software can recognize and will prohibit a copy from being made. If the VHS movies were recorded yourself off HBO or cable channels, then they can be transfered.

sure ya can, lemme ask u this...do you watch live tv with your media center? i ask this because if you do,you can record your movies, like tivo, then save them to a file and burn them like that.another way is with a stand alone tv tuner that you can watch your vhs and dvd through the tuner, your pc and save to file that way.are you using windows media player to pull this off? i would suggest something like nero or roxio and there is a program to work around the copyright thing, but this way worx too.
