It confuses me. The bible tells you to do some ridiculous things, and I think we can all agree there. For instance, the bible claims that working on Sunday is punishable by death:
Exodus 35:2 – " For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death."
So, if you're going to back up your "I hate gay people cause the bible tells me to" nonsense, shouldn't you die for working on a Sunday?
People back up their hate with the "bible", yet I'm sure they will work on Sundays. Can you honestly think this is justifiable if you're not even going to believe the entire book?

If you're going to tell me you can justify being against slavery...:
You're telling me you agree with the bible then, correct?
So you think it is okay to own slaves? Because guess what-- how did Plantation owners in colonial America try and justify their owning of slaves? You guessed it-- they used the Bible.
Here's a quote:
Ephesians 6:5 - "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ."
If you believe slavery should be justifiable with the bible, and you're telling me that you do, since you follow other parts of the bible, then you'd be a sick person in my opinion.

This is going to be so picky but the seventh day is actually Saturday, so it's okay if you work on Sunday. You should be put to death however, if you work on Saturday.
It's also okay to take slaves from neighboring countries (there are even a set of rules to follow while doing it if memory serves), so I'm going to upstate New York to see if I can grab a Canadian who has crossed the line!

1) You can't justify hating gay people, *OR* anyone else, with a Christian bible. Hating someone is *not* permitted. However, homosexuals *are* expected to repent of their homosexuality before being allowed to join a congregation, and they are also expected to be *removed* from a congregation if they relapse into that sin. The same restrictions, however, also apply to fornicators and drunkards.
2) I disagree wholly that the "bible tells you to do some ridiculous things". The Old Testament, taken in the context of it's time and place, contains no "ridiculous" commands whatsoever. Nor does the New Testament, which I believe to still be fully pertinent to our own times.
3) Death for working on the Sabbath (which, BTW, starts at Friday at dusk and ends on Saturday at dusk) is a law of the Old Testament that the gentiles were excused from following by the council of "the 12" in Acts. Thus, modern Christians are not permitted to hate homosexuals (no matter how disgusting homosexuality is), nor are they required to execute anyone who does not honor the Sabbath. Of course, there *are* several Christians, and all obedient Jews, who do honor their respective Sabbath days and do no work on them.
4) It was OK (unfortunately) to own slaves in the days prior to Christianity. However, this again is an Old Testament teaching which is difficult to justify in the face of New Testament scripture. Even the Old Testament put quite a few restrictions on slavery, as well as commanding what might be termed basic slave rights. Your quote definitely does *not* make any inference that it was OK to *own* slaves, but rather that an obedient Christian who is a slave will be a humble and obedient slave. This is an *entirely* different thing.
"Too bad no gay person every claimed it was chosen... your theory is wrong."
Homosexuals may not make a conscious choice to be sexually attracted to members of the same sex (although I have heard that some do), but they most definitely *do* make a choice when they become involved in a homosexual act. Thus, *homosexuality* is *always* a choice, and is *never* a thing with which someone is "born".

First of all, one must rightly divide the Word of God. To pull Scriptures out like that, you could make the Bible say anything you wanted it to. Second, you or I cannot justify hating gay people with the Bible. In fact, the only thing that we can justify hating is 'hating what God hates'..... sin.
You have been misinformed about God's Holy Word. I suggest that you go to a pastor and ask him or her how you should study God's word. Or perhaps you could attend a Bible Study and learn how to study. Taking Scripture out of it's context is dangerous and harmful. The Bible tells us to 'imitate Jesus'...... Jesus laid down his life for you/me/ others. That's called love. He also said, "Love as I have loved you." You will never find Jesus teaching His followers to hate! I hope you will take ahold of this and go make an effort to educate yourself on what a great God we have and learn how wonderful His Word is. If you're searching for wisdom.... go about it the right way. Any other way is a waste of time, and we never know how much time we have.

Deep question dude. We'd all be put to death for working on the Sabbath. But then, what day is Holy? Christians say it's Sunday. Others say Saturday. Who are we to believe?
My argument with the bible is that the storys within were interpreted over 2000 years ago. From the infinite number of translations, much of the meaning has been lost.
The people that thump their bibles and say "this is wrong, that is wrong" are wrong themselves for passing judgment. The bible does refer to some things which God considers to be unholy and unclean. But again, the translation of that law is over 2000 years old.
Does the bible speak against homosexuality? I don't know, I've never researched it. I do know that it expressly forbids divorce, adultery and other things more common to heterosexuals.
As for my belief, God loves me no matter what. He does not destroy. That's the devils job.

In the U.S., the basic belief in God is prevalent. For instance, look at your money..."In God We Trust." Sadly, people with an agenda use a belief in God to promote hatred. It seems so ridiculous that a religious leader would use a blessed book to incite prejudice. Times change and opinions evolve, the Bible is old and is a basis for living a life that promotes peace, love, and faith. It is sinful to use the Bible as a tool for hate. If we were to take everything in the Bible and make it law for everyone to abide by many of those who abuse it's teachings would be hurt by it the most.

obviously you don't read the bible or have any sense of what it means when it says things. The bible never said that working on SUNDAY was punishable by death. The Sabbath was on saturday in the old testament.Besides, nobody hates your sorry person, we just disagree with what you do and think its disgusting. If anybody rally HATED you , the lot of you would be dead in a matter of days.

One of two reasons:
1. Ignorance. A person hasn't actually read the Bible. Therefore, s/he may be unaware of the other verses.
2. Hypocrisy. The person has read the Bible and is aware of the other verses. However, the person chooses to follow just those verses which support his/her viewpoints and ignore the rest.

People Can Interpret The Bible In Such A Way That It Can Justify How they Choose To Behave Towards Certain People, How They Behave ECT. People Use religeon As A Tool Which Is Sad! Like Georg Bush Said 'God Told me To Go to War In Iraq' Clearly He's Just using The Religeon To Justify His WrongDoings...If That Made Sence!
PEOPLE SHOULD BE DEFINED BY THEIR PERSONALITY, NOT THIER SEXUALITY!
(thats my motto to people who hate)

Look, they've justified hating Jews, Protestants, Catholics, Muslims, Irish, Africans, and Native Americans with the Bible. What's another group?
Oh, btw, nobody here seems to know what sodomy is. Straight people sodomize all the time, too.

It's all about context. Every verse (mistranslated or not) about homosexuality is taken out of context. Everything from a rant to hold back an enemy, a misinterpreted story, to rules for a small group of people living in that time, etc.
Heck, if I took verses out of context I could use the Bible to justify that women cannot speak in church, and it is punishable by law.
