It's not a dumb question. Not everyone is going to get on with everyone else. There are several factors which can sway one's opinion of someone else, either in favour or opposed to that person. People even go so far as to hate people they don't even know. It's all about our perception of ourselves, we look to see that reflected in other people. We get on better with people who are similar in our beliefs and opinions, we tend not to get on with those who are opposed or disagree with us. However, there is the boundless possibility that one or both people can be open minded, are able to see things from another point of view, and in some cases, agree to disagree.

i am sure it is down to personality.
there are varying degrees of how much we actually get on with or dislike each different person we meet
everyone has so many layers that its very hard to totally like or dislike someone. there will always be things you agree or dont agree with.
or its possible that you are too similar and that its a type of competition and you wind each other up subconsciously in a fight for dominance

It's quite simple, I would have tought. We are each individuals with our own personalities and it is impossible to like everyone else. Even if someone is a particularly popular person with others, it doesn't mean you will like his or her traits and personality.
