The electric ones are definately worth the money. I am currently using a hospital rental to increase my supply, but I first bought the medela swing pump. It works great, but it is just a single pump. Pay the extra money for a double pump! It will save you so much time.

Everyone here is going to tell you to just nurse her, and while I agree, it is going to be hard to pump enough to feed him/her without nursing.

But good luck and good job wanting to give your child the best!

The first quesion is are you going to work or stay home and how often do you plan to pump. If you are only going to pump once in a while a hand pump would be fine. I used the avent hand pump and it was great.I go it at target it even can with a bag and some bottles. No problems at all. If you are going to pump a lot I would go with a medala electric pump they are a little more costly but they work the best. I think they are around 300-400. This is why I asked how often are you going to pump.

I personally never used the manual. But I bought the electric that also uses a battery. I liked this because if I was away --in my car, I was still able to pump while my husband drove. Just a note--wait about 2 weeks before introducing the bottle so that baby does not get nipple confusion.

The electric ones generally work the best as they have the best suction I have found.

Also take into consideration that your partner doesn't have to feed the baby to bond, there are other ways to bond with a baby, rocking them, holding them skin to skin, bathing them are all ways to bond, feeding isn't exclusive in that catergory.

From experience I think the hand pump ones are the best.
