Yeah, what exactly happens? I think I heard somewhere it signs you out of all the websites you're normally signed on to.

Also... what folder do you go to to delete them, and is there anything you shouldn't delete?

Basically: what happens, how do you delete them, and how does it affect my computer?

Well, If you delete the temporary files you actually delete what the internet placed in your computer while surfing the net, which usually means pictures, videos or anything like that. It's usually things you don't actually know that are downloaded. For example if you see a video on Youtube some videos are downloaded into this folder.
You can delete them by simply finding the folder in your C drive, or getting into you Internet options and look for browsing history settings. However if you delete cookies your recent typed websites addresses and passwords will be deleted so be sure what you delete.

As you know, whenever you visit a Web Site via the Internet, a running record of visited sites are stored in various directories on your computer. The whole purpose of storing this information is to allow a faster loading of web pages if you re-visit a particular site again. This can be a useful feature, but these temporary files can cause problems if they accumulate over a long period of time. Also whenever you install programs on your computer, residuals of the programs installation files are also stored within a Temporary File Folder and can also accumulate over a long period of time. Therefore, this technical brief will show you how to manually clean up all these temporary file folders on your computer system.

For Windows XP

Performing the above folder by folder deletion procedure for Windows XP can be quite tricky because these temporary folders are placed into separate directories according to each individual user. But luckily Windows XP comes with Internet Explorer 6, which allows us to perform the above procedure in only six simple steps.

For best results, close all your programs until the Windows Desktop appears.

Then right click on the Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop until its menu appears.

Now left click on the word Properties until the Internet Properties Window opens for you.

Then locate the three buttons entitled: Delete Cookies, Delete Files and Clear History.

Now click on each button and select OK each time Windows asks if you want to delete these files.

Then click on the OK button at the bottom of the screen to exit the Internet Properties window.

Note: The above six step procedure will work for all earlier versions of Windows as long Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher is installed on that system. This is because Internet Explorer 6.0 now includes the new Delete Cookies button and its Delete Files button does a better job of really wiping out all Temporary Internet Files.

Go to tools in your toolbar scroll down to delete temporary files and click on it. It will delete your viewing history ( actually it makes that part of your memory ready to be copied over so its not completely gone). I is a good idea to do it every month. The temporary files will slow down your computer.

It will normally speed your computer up.
It is a good idea to clean all that junk out once a week.
There are several different ways.
I reccomend you have a good virus Software.
Download Spybot's Search and Destroy.
Also Lavasoft's Adawre-7
You can also open your Browser and go up to the Menu Bar and select Tools and scroll down to Internet Options and you can clean anything you desire. I tend to leave my Bookmarks alone. Unless you have a ton of junk in there as well.
