If conservatives had total control here is what I envision:
A strong military.
Government getting out of our business - for example, cutting out all the wasteful spending on people who do not work. I do not advocate stopping benefits for the truly disabled or other people who REALLY need help, just the sponges. That would save lots of money that could be refunded to the hardworking people of America.
Next, patriotic moviemakers would abound. None of this crap that puts America down. I am not talking about constructive criticism. We should always strive to be better, and that includes recognizing our weaknesses and fixing them. Also, Hollywood would stop making movies that have excessive profanity and violence toward women.

Children and the elderly will be respected. Child molesters would automatically get long jail sentences. NAMBLA would be outlawed.

The ACLU would stop defending child molesters and monsters and stick to REAL issues.
I could think of lots more.

Lets see:

There would be gays publicly having sex on every street corner. Every show on television would be obscene. Christianity would be outlawed and all Christian churches would be seized under eminent domain laws. Whites would be slaves. Pedophilia and bestiality would be legal and people practicing those would be a protected class.

Ive read a lot of knee-jerk responses and Im happy to see more people who love the name neo-cons back in action...it makes Osama happy.

The situation we are now in is a combination of the worst of both sides. Conservatives tend to move at a slower pace to change things and Liberals tend to rush in head-first with reckless regard to consequences.

Conservatives empower individuals to make their own decisions but that freedom allows the truly greedy to create bad situations in business. Liberals empower the government and other agencies, such as unions, to manage our way of life, but that empowerment suppresses some individual freedoms.

Everyone complaining about the Republican control of Congress (2000-2006) must also acknowledge the 40 years of Democrat control (1960-2000) which has failed to eliminate racism, sexism, poverty, and a host of other things (pornography, drugs, profanity, etc).

The reason I blame both is because nothing happens without consensus from both parties. It has been a long time since either portion of Congress has been truly dominated by one party enough to force legislation since the Democrats during the Reagan era.

What would the America be like? Liberals have their priorities out of order, at the moment. If the country is at risk, then we are all at risk- the country needs to be secured. Pulling the troops home will not accomplish that, nor is that their intention. Once the country is safe from harm and outside influences, then take an inventory- but not until.

The debate on health care is so distracting I dont understand why anyone would want to take their focus off the terrorists as though they will suddenly come out of hiding because we went back to introspection- that was how we got into this mess in the first place...

Seriously- if Democrats AND Republicans had not been so self-absorbed about how to improve the country, someone might have seen it coming.

Pacifism is not the answer. "All gave some, but some gave all" but that tradition is lost. This country will die horribly by apathy from those who "care"....after all, "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions."

Your vision of republican control is a bit off. Republicans had control of all three branches of government from 2000 to 2006. America saw how much of a mess that turned out to be and voted a bunch of them out. The same thing will happen in 2008. No one party should have total control. That would be fascism (and if that's your vision, please move to a country where your values are shared).

The system of checks and balances works. It's been missing for a while, and we've suffered for it. It will take some time, but America will recover.

We already have a strong military, it's your neo-conservative president whose inept policies are weakening it.

Cut wasteful spending??? LMAO. Your neo-conservative president has created a $9 TRILLION debt. Do you really think that has been caused by the welfare benefits he HAS cut???

You're going to regulate the movie industry? With legislation? If so, you have to re-write the First Amendment because what you've suggested is clearly unconstitutional.

Before doing anything I would suggest reading the Constitution of the United States of America. It's available at your local library and most book stores.

The conservatives already control the US and this is what you get, bloated government spending, record deficits and a shameful international reputation. The vision you have is greatly oversimplified. Government spending has a tendency to growm at a faster rate when conservativeds are in power. Dept of Homeland security, nuff said. Terrorism has been around since Guy Fawkes. Sorry for your lack of understanding.

Everyone except the Hollywood Libs would be on the dole! There would be no incentive to work and all the Hollywood Stars would be living elsewhere to avoid the taxes! We would all be speaking Spanish and the Chinese would control what was left of Wall Street! Vote for Hillary and Obama so you too can quit your job!

We certainly understand what it means to be controled by a conservative government for the past 7 years.

- Invasion and occupation of soveign countries.
- Reduction of civil rights guaranteed under the constituion and bill of rights.
- Elimination of privacy laws, and unabridged rights to survellance.
- Imperialistic presidency allowing torture and unlimited detainment of domestic and international citizens.
- Increase in wealth among the very wealthy.
- Decrease in wealth among the middle and lower classes.
- Increase in gun availability, gangs, and steet crime.
- Massive deficet spending that is translated into big profits to select large corporation and a huge national debt.
- Lower standard of living for the average American.
- Massive increase in illegal drug availability and use.
- Double speak and spin and coverup related to 9/11 and other events.
- Corruption at high levels of government.

If this is what a conservative government gives us, I'll vote in the opposite direction. I'd vote for a liberal candidate if I could find one, but I'm afraid that most are are all part of the industrial/military/congressional/media conglomerate.

You are delusional. Conservatives want a strong government. check out the spending by the Alaskan Congress people. They are all republicans, but they have some the most wasteful projects ever (bridges to nowhere).

Your write "I could think of lots more". The problem is that you aren't thinking, you are dreaming. What you credit to conservatives is not conservative thought. Liberals are as patriotic as anyone else, but they don't feel the insecurity about it to tell everyone. I look at the flags and such on vehicles, and I think about shallow people who have to tell everyone that they are patriotic. Then, I think about the people who say "trust me". They are usually the ones that you shouldn't be trusting.

And, I agree the government should get out of our business. They should not be telling gay people they cannot marry. They should not be restricting the access to birth control and sex education. They shouldn't need to spy on their own people. They should keep their relationship with God personal rather than forcing it down the throat of people who believe differently. All of these things, the government is doing. But, it is ok because you think it is ok. Unfortunately, the country is for a diverse population which is what makes the country great. Your ideas are childish and petty.

I think that if EITHER party ever gets total control, the result would be the end of America. As a matter of fact, we are closer every day.

Our forefathers saw America as a place where MANY political parties could co-exist. They never imagined that we would voluntarily whittle ourselves down to a two party system. And, the special interests don't really care what party you belong to. Money is the international language of politics. Your freedoms are being bought and sold every day. Wake up, my friend. Please. Wake up.

We would get higher taxes on Corporations to pay down the national debt that went from a surplus to trillions of dollars. Who else is going to pay down our debt?

And we would be out of the war, and just as safe here. Oh, and we could wear our shoes in the airport again!
