why is ND / mich on abc?
I thought ND was on NBC.

because they are playing at michigan which has all its home games on ABC. if ND was at home they would play on NBC.

Since the game is at Michigan, Michigan got the TV contracts, and Notre Dames agreement with NBC is only for games at home
This year it just happens that both teams swallow, but the network doesn't care, because a lot of people are going to tune in no matter what, and the money the commercial sponsors have to pay to get their ads shown during this game is way better than average.

The real question is why wasn't there a clause in that contract that would allow ABC to choose a good game instead of being forced to show one where both teams suck.
