Doesn't look like they are doing that. So what's the choice for 08?

Um, Mitchell? Scooter Libby and Alberto Gonzalez are both free to do what they want to.

I almost always vote Democrat but it was obvious with so many Republicans in power and so much power given to the president, there needed to be some opposition and oversight into the goings on within our government. I can't believe most people thought we could really just pick up and leave Iraq. Its not that simple.

It's not like they aren't trying. They don't have the votes to override a veto.

At least they stopped the rubber stamping of the Republican controlled congress and have held officials accountable through oversight.

Without a Democratic controlled Congress, Scooter Libby and Alberto Gonzalez would be free to do whatever they want and the GOP would never have had any oversight on them.

Really, I thought Scooter Libby was convicted of a crime and sentenced to jail while Gonzalez was forced to resign.

I did vote for them, but I didn't expect that they could stop the war because I realized the small majority they would hold wouldn't be enough to do so. Mainly I voted for them because I was tired of the rubber stamp Republican Congress that virtually made Bush a dictator. I didn't think they would cut funding. As much as some folks wanted that, it wouldn't have been a very smart thing to do. It is a very good thing to me that he doesn't have that rubber stamp Congress anymore and I've been satisfied with the small inroads they have made. Actually, it's been more than I expected. I know I'm in the minority on this, but so many people expected miracles from a very small majority, and that just isn't realistic. I like realistic, it keeps my feet on the ground.

EDIT: After reading your answers, I guess I'm not in the minority. It seems a lot of people voted to (what was it one answerer said?) put a leash on Bush.

I was not that naive. I wanted a Dem controlled House and/or Senate for one big reason ......... damage control. The Repubs have had total control of the White House, House, and Senate for to long. The abuses the Dems have uncovered so far are only the tip of the iceberg. One party with total control is bad, no matter which party. Our government works the best when it has checks and balances in place, a sharing of power.

No, I voted for them because GWBush is incompetent and arguably corrupt and the GOP Congress had done little or nothing to keep him in line. With intelligent leadership this war could have been over in 2004 and Osama could be dead.

I will vote for the Dems again in 2008 for the same reasons. When an elected leader fails so miserably and stubbornly and childishly refuses to make changes in policy that would help his country, blindly supporting him is foolish. The GOP has been foolish and I will not vote for them because of it.

No, I voted for democrats last election, because I felt someone needed to put a leash on Bush.
I also felt that a change in direction, that Bush was unwilling to perform, because he was still getting blank checks from republicans, was greatly needed.

You have to have a 2/3 majority to over-ride a veto by a President. They don't have that majority to do it. Bush has vetoed most everything they have sent to him. He doesn't realize how bad he is hurting his party, and the country.

I voted for them because of Republican corruption and to begin to end the war.

Sad as it is,Dubya's mess in Iraq is not something we can walk away from.

But we can't continue down this path of idiocy and denial we're currently on.

No, I voted for Republicans last November because I didn't want the Democrats to tax the bejeezus out of me. I fully intend to vote for Republicans this time around for the same reasons.
