in part by letting americans know that they are not alone on the planet, and some people really do not like america's sometimes imperialist attitudes, and are willing to go outside the bounds of decent behavior to let the world know how they feel.

As has occurred in the past when the security of Americans has been threatened, America has reacted with a strong front pushed by concern for future acts. In these efforts (as in the past) some domestic actions have (for a time) over step the limits of the Constitution. This is the primary danger.

So too with the involvements with other countries. America has become through necessity (and self image) that which tries to right some of the wrongs of the world. This has been done with restraint. Whether the rest of the world agrees or not, whether the rest of the world likes it or not, when America was attack on 11 September 2001 (as the last in a long line of attacks) the response could have been one which ended the problem of a threat in a single day with no loss of life to any American. But America didn’t take that road.

Both of these efforts of these efforts, domestically as well as foreign, are under deep and hard discussion within the United States. It is quite possible that the forces of the United States may be withdrawn from the rest of the world and brought home to seal its borders. This would leave the rest of the world to go its way with all of its petty dictators and self aggrandizing leaders who not a single whit for any of their own citizens let alone the peoples of the rest of the world.

America, China, Japan, Australia, Canada, and a few other countries can stand alone keeping all others away from their nations and get along quite nicely. That the rest of the world would likely descend into chaos is almost a given. As the various terrorist groups expand their control over others individuals and certain groups will suffer with major reductions in the freedoms that they have. For example, women will likely come under the most repressive rules since the middle ages as cultures which have no respect for them take over. Those societies based primarily on some religious based government will expand their option of convert or die. May be after another thousand years the world will return to a more productive and less brutal climate.

Well, let's see :
Try to obtain a driver's license without 10 pieces of identification, and one of them must be a picture ID.

We lost more freedom's and the cops now have as much power as the old Nazi SS. Something we once fought against.

Have you used an airline lately? be careful what you pack in your suitcase.

Oh, our penis of a President, decided that he could listen in on any ones telephone calls. Do not use these words or there will be a knock on your door: kill, murder, destroy, bomb(or dabomb), assassinate, naked, shoot, sex, birthday suit, beat, missile, grenade, hypnotize, control, manipulate, etc., et al

We now know that any religious faction of overly zealous leaders can claim war on any nation, simply because we refuse to conform to their idiotic(& uneducated) wishes.

We now have cameras focused upon us in some of the most unusual places. Along with mics to match.

If you walk into a courthouse, please remove all metal from your pockets, and please leave your money there for a tip.Unless you want to be taken to a backroom where God only knows what the place in your darkside.

Finally, that cops can shoot endlessly at someone holding their wallet in their hand, no matter how many innocent bystanders are injured. You know, in the name of National Defense.

This is only one man's opinion, and it's an outside observer's opinion at that. I'd say it's fairly obvious that the U.S. has taken a hard right turn. Aggressive and paranoid are words that come to mind. It's funny because those words connote fear to me, and maybe that is understandable, but it is equally upsetting. It seems a whole bunch of bubbles burst on 9-11...and not just the Americans'. God bless all victims of "terrorist" murderers.

I think it has made us much more cynical. I look back at the 90's and we seemed so much happier back then. Think about the things the Gen Xers were bitching about in the '90s. "People don't understand me. Life sucks." Oh if only those were still the biggest problems we had!
